Armageddon is upon us...

This week has been rather funky. Beyond last weekend's bout of convention work that prevented the comic updates (if you're curious what took all my time, head on over to the Anime Banzai website), this has just been rather tiring this week. I decided that I needed to work on something unrelated to everything. I pulled this out of the archives. I did the original version of this in 1992, right after Mortal Kombat came out.I had been watching Tenchi a lot back then, and it kinda fit... Now, MK has changed quite a bit over the years and with all the changes in the last 16 years, I decided that it was time for an update. So here's Ryoko Kombat Armageddon!

Beyond that, I do have sketches for the next comic going. I just need to finish some clean up. There should be somethign new on Monday. Until then, enjoy Ryoko. :)
Adventures to SDCC

So, this last week, I was on vacation. First vacation in over a year. As my family tends to do, we head to Disneyland. While the family chills there, I head down to the San Diego Comic-Con for a day or two. Thursday was my Comic-Con day. I needed to hook up with Richard and Wendy of Elfquest fame, to discuss the upcoming web revamp. I was also taking my brother Dana to see the con for the first time. We left Anaheim at around 7:20 am and get on the 5 Freeway. Going ok, until we're about to get to San Onofre. Then the traffic stops. And stops. And stops.....
4 hours later, we finally get to the reason why the traffic had been throughly killed. At 5:09am, a Vons grocery truck was driving along when it hit a mini-van that was parked on the side of the road. It had been in an accident earlier and was unoccupied, but being hit at 65+MPH, it created quite the mess. The big rig slammed into the van, tossing it up the hill about 30 feet, then the rig rolled a couple of times before the gas tanks finally burst into flames. The driver got out before it went up fortunately. However, the fire from the tanks lit the brush on the side of the road and ended up burning 4 acres of brush and torched the mini-van.
When we finally got to the accident, around 11:30am, 4 hours after we left on a 2 hour drive, traffic was still pretty much reduced to one lane.
Yes, that's one lane, with rush hour traffic from L.A. to San Diego AND people coming down for the first day of the Comic-Con.
All told, it took about 5 1/2-6 hours to get to San Diego. I was only able to spend about an hour at the convention cause we had to be back in Anaheim for a dinner appointment. I did get to hook up with Richard and Wendy. That was pretty much it.
The only GOOD thing that happened all day was being able to finally hit up the In-N-Out. I sooooooo needed a 4x4 after all that driving.
Now that the vacation and the adventures associated with it are done, I really NEED to get back to drawing. I've been a total slacker. Yes, I know. I suck. I need to get something done this week.
Workin' My Way Back
Thursday, 26 June 2008
Oh how life can get away from you. Spring semester at school really killed me with homework. It was a really bad semester for schedules getting screwed up. I had 4 teachers, three of which were under some dilusion that they were the only class that I had and that I had plenty of time to spend like 30 hours a week on just their class. Yes, times three. 90 hours a week. Not to mention that I have to work at least 30 hours a week. Mind you, that's 120 hours a week. Weeks in MY universe only have 168 hours in them. The demanding schedule really killed any "extracurricular" activities that I had. The comic suffered the most.
After the semester ended, I got tossed into uber-deadline mode at work, so things got killed again...
Today is the first day AFTER all the deadlines. Things will hopefully be much more dead around here for a while. (At least until the semester starts up again in August.)
While I'm sure all three of you that are reading the comic are slightly miffed that I haven't updated in like 4 months, I'm finally at a point where I can try to get back into the "groove" and get things goign again. I'm hoping to have a new page up for Monday.
Here's to hoping. ::crosses fingers::

So, we finally have a little bit of action. Here we introduce everyone to Chesh and another of the Pixies, Jincha. All those poor low level cards... They're not much of a challenge.
I started a new process for the comic production with this latest chapter. I'm doing my sketches on paper for the general setup for things and then I'm inking and coloring in Photoshop. It seems to do a bit better with getting lines set up for the inking. I'm also getting the layouts for the pages done before I start inking, so it's more like "real" comic production. It seems to be a better process than the old one. We'll see where that goes. Now, it's back to homework. :)
Chapter 2 Begins
Monday, 4 February 2008
So, things have been thrown off a bit here, but Chapter 2 is about to begin. Alice is out cold underneath the tree, but the story is about to pick up... Today's page, 024, is the new chapter page where we introduce you all to Lady Ecila, Alice's reflected nemisis. Next week we should get back to some action.
As you can see, I'm also in the process of streamlining some of the webstuff too. I'm still working on that stuff a bit, but I wanted to get this up right now so we can get things moving in a positive direction.
More when I have it. :) |
